TRAVELLERS were served an eviction notice after refusing to leave an encampment in West Moors.
The group were forced to leave after police were called to reports of an encampment at Fryers Field Recreation Ground in West Moors, Dorset.
A group of travellers were also seen at Watermans’ Park in Somerford after reportedly breaking into the recreation ground on August 11.
Now, it is reported that the group have moved on from the unauthorised encampment.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We were made aware on Friday 9 August 2024 of an unauthorised traveller encampment at Fryers Field Recreation Ground in West Moors.
“Following liaison with local partners and those present, an eviction notice was issued on Monday 12 August 2024 under section 62 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, requiring the group to leave the site.
“Officers continued to monitor the situation and liaised with the local authority to ensure the notice was complied with.
“The group left the area by around 10.50am on Tuesday 13 August 2024.”
