A CHARITY has warned its Christchurch branch could close if it can’t recruit a new chair.

Parkinson UK’s Christchurch branch, which offers information, advice and friendship to people affected by Parkinson’s, has issued an urgent appeal for a new volunteer chair.

The new chair would lead the team of volunteers and ensure the smooth running of the group.

They would provide leadership and help the committee work together to carry out its work effectively.

Having run for 43 years, the branch could be forced to close if this vital volunteer doesn’t come forward.

Claire Denby, local volunteer officer at Parkinson’s UK, said: “The Christchurch branch is a lifeline for people in the local area who are living with Parkinson’s, but we rely on volunteers to help us keep these groups running.

"Without the support from people like you, these groups could be forced to close.

“If you can spare a few hours a week, we’d love to welcome you to volunteer alongside the amazing people who are part of the Christchurch branch, because with your support we really can change lives.

“As well as making a big difference to people living with Parkinson’s in your local community, volunteering is a great opportunity to try something new, have new experiences, and meet new people."
