Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service has issued an update on the underground car park fire.
Multiple emergency services attended the incident on Christchurch Road, Bournemouth after reports of smoke coming from a car park.
At the time of the incident, a spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service said: “We were called at 12:23pm today with reports of a fire at Royal London House, Christchurch Road, Bournemouth.
“Crews from Springbourne, Redhill, Westbourne, Wimborne, Christchurch, and Poole have been mobilised along with a support unit from Devizes.
“On arrival of the first crews, a fire has been confirmed within the underground carpark beneath the building involving a skip. Two main lines and one hose reel jet were used to extinguish the fire.”
Now, the fire service has released an update: “The cause is believed to have been accidental - most likely due to smoking materials.”
A firefighter was also taken to hospital in an ambulance after sustaining a leg injury after a fall.
