SHOPPERS onlooked in shock as a man was escorted by police for causing a disturbance in Poole.

A man was arrested after causing a scene in Poundland on Poole High Street.

Multiple police cars were seen around the store at the time of the incident. 

It is reported that the Poundland store had to close its doors while police dealt with the incident.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 2.49pm on Thursday 15 August 2024 of a man causing a disturbance at Poundland in Falkland Square in Poole.

“It is reported that he assaulted a member of security staff. Officers attended and a 35-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of assault.

“He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.”

A spokesperson for Poundland said: "Poole store colleagues yesterday had to deal with a shoplifting incident and briefly closed the store while police promptly dealt with the matter."
