A MAN who was found with several bottles of suspected stolen wine has been arrested.

The man was in the Upper Gardens in Bournemouth town centre on Thursday, August 15 when police officers PS Grace and PC Johnson were on patrol.

However, a check on the police’s systems found he was wanted on prison recall and arrested.

PC Lewis then found the shop where the bottles of wine were stolen from.

A Bournemouth police spokesman said: “The male will now face shoplifting charges while serving his time in prison.

“We would also like to thank our officers who were out across the town centre yesterday, engaging with local businesses and providing reassurance patrols.

“It’s great to see so many happy residents and tourists enjoying their time in Bournemouth this summer.

“Our team will continue to be out on foot this weekend as part of Operation Nightjar, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone during the night-time economy hours.”
