TWO kids tried to flee police officers before a huge knife was found.

Police officers PC Lewis and PC Stuart were patrolling the gardens in Bournemouth town centre on Thursday, August 16 when they spotted the pair “acting suspiciously”.

Both officers went to approach the two kids, prompting them to run away. However, when being chased, they tried to throw away several items.

PC Lewis managed to detain the pair before they could throw away any evidence.

A search of the kids revealed a “significant quantity of Class B drugs and multiple mobile phones”, according to Bournemouth police.

PC Lewis also climbed onto a nearby roof, where he recovered more drugs that one of the suspects had “attempted to hide”.

Meanwhile, PC Stuart conducted a thorough area search and found a weapon they believed to be linked to the two youths.

Both individuals are now assisting Dorset Police with enquiries into the offences of possessing a bladed article in a public place and possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.

Bournemouth police’s spokesman said: “At Dorset Police, we take all knife-related offences seriously and are committed to taking decisive action against those who carry weapons in public.

“As for drug dealing, if you're thinking of bringing drugs into our community, think again—you never know where our officers might be.”
