A MAN was airlifted to hospital following a medical incident in Dorset.

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was deployed from its headquarters in Henstridge, Somerset, and landed at St Michael's Church of England Middle School in Wimborne.

Once assessed, the male patient was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital.

The air ambulance was seen leaving Southampton and heading back to its headquarters an hour later.

The incident occurred on August 19 at around 10am.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance said: “Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance attended an incident in Wimborne this morning involving an adult male patient.

“This was a request from our Southwestern Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust land crew colleagues.

“The patient was conveyed to Southampton Hospital by our critical care team. The team we provided consisted of a doctor and a specialist practitioner in critical care, both of whom specialise in pre-hospital emergency medicine. The aircraft was crewed as usual, by a pilot and co-pilot.”
