A HOT TUB used to ease a couple’s chronic pain condition has been stolen from their back garden after being targeted the day before.

The thieves reportedly broke into the garden the day before to drain the hot tub and detach it from the power mains, before returning to finish the job.

Fin Douglas bought the £200 inflatable spa for her husband’s birthday as the couple and her mother-in-law all suffer from fibromyalgia.

The condition causes widespread pain across the body, with hot tubs commonly used to help by relaxing muscles.

Fin said she and her husband, Aaron, also have autism and the hot tub helped with their sensory issues.

“When we’re in the hot tub, it was so relaxing for our joints and it helps with fibromyalgia and it helps with our anxiety and our autism because of the sensory issues we've got,” said Fin.

However, on Friday, August 16, Aaron's mother, Katie, noticed the spa had been unplugged and drained in their garden in MacLean Road, Bournemouth.

“Someone must have come in, taken the lid off, drained it and taken all the power supply out, but we didn’t think anything of it,” said Fin.

They also noticed one of their butterfly garden ornaments had been moved and believed someone had trespassed to damage the hot tub.

However, the next morning the family were shocked to find the whole hot tub missing.

“Me and Aaron just do not feel safe anymore because of our autism, we don't feel safe anymore in the house or in the back garden at all.”

Aaron added the couple feel violated and that they’ve been targeted due to their conditions.

The family is now enquiring about having a six foot fence installed in their garden, which backs onto an alleyway.

A spokesperson said: “Dorset Police received a report at around 8.25am on Saturday 17 August 2024 of the theft of a hot tub in Maclean Road in Bournemouth.

“The incident occurred between Thursday 15 August and Saturday 17 August 2024.

“Officers will be carrying out enquiries into the report. No arrests have been made.”
