A COLLECTION of vintage petrol pumps and enamel signs are to be put up for auction in Sherborne next month.

The lot, which includes automobilia pieces dating back to the 1920s, is expected to fetch around £10,000 in the Charterhouse automobilia auction on September 25.

Richard Bromell from Charterhouse said: "We have been holding automobilia auctions for many years.

"However, when the owner turned up on one of our valuation days I was amazed to see nearly 100 lots of enamel signs and petroliana crammed into his van and loaded in his trailer."

The line-up includes vintage hand crank petrol pumps, oil cans, enamel signs and forecourt and road signs, with individual items estimated to sell from £40 to more than £1,000.

Charterhouse is currently accepting further entries for the auction and a valuation day is scheduled at their Sherborne Salerooms on Friday, September 6.
