THE high street was filled with music, fancy dress and acrobatics as Boscombe put on its first-ever carnival.
A procession made its way through the town, twirling hoops, throwing and catching knives, and waving flags. It ended with a bubble show with dancing and music.
The Mystical Maritime carnival parade was the finalie to Boscombe's very first carnival, which took place on August 24 and 25.
Peter Ruscoe, Chair of the Coastal BID and Better Boscombe Towns Fund Board Member, said: "This weekend will bring together residents, holidaymakers, and visitors alike to celebrate all that makes Boscombe unique.
"The incredible efforts of everyone involved—from organisers to participants—have truly brought this event to life."
Boscombe Carnival took place as a result of a collaboration between Black Cherry, Africa Come to Bournemouth and Better Boscombe.
Highlights of the event include street workshops, poetry performances, and the ABBA meets Ska tribute act Skabba Disco Pirate Party.
Boscombe resident Becka visited the event with her young children.
She said: "We've had a lovely time.
"It's a shame more people didn't come.
"We came both days, but the highlight was definitely Skabba which was great fun."
Emily Lanham from Pokesdown added: "It's really lively on the high street, which is nice to see.
"It's a lovely community event and gives families something to do on the bank holiday weekend."
There was a face-painting station, where many children (and a few adults) had their faces transformed.
Seven-year-old Isla said: "It's brilliant; I had my face painted like a leopard.
"But my favourite part was the bubbles!"
Rachel Maddix, Director of The Black Cherry Theatre CIC, said: "This year's Boscombe Carnival is a testament to the creativity, dedication, and community spirit that defines our town.
"It has been a privilege to work alongside so many talented individuals to bring this event to life.
"I'm incredibly proud of what we've achieved and excited to see everyone come together to celebrate the best of Boscombe.
"This weekend is not just about fun and entertainment; it's about strengthening our community bonds and showcasing the vibrant culture that makes Boscombe so special."
