A WOMAN was beaten up and racially abused while she was on Bournemouth beach. 

The woman, whose identity is unknown, was on the beach near Harry Ramsden’s on Monday afternoon, August 26. 

Meanwhile, the man kicked her and racially abused her, according to police officers, although she was not injured. 

Officers arrested a man, 44 and from Bournemouth, on suspicion of racially aggravated common assault. 

He has also been accused of spitting on a police car when he was being arrested and is now in custody answering questions. 

One witness said he saw about 10 police officers attend the incident along with two police cars.

Dorset Police’s spokeswoman said: “Dorset Police received a report at around 4.25pm on Monday 26 August 2024 that a man had assaulted a woman by kicking her on Bournemouth beach near to Harry Ramsden’s. 

“It also alleged that he racially abused the woman. The victim did not sustain any visible injuries.  

“Officers swiftly arrived on scene and a 44-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated common assault. 

“During the incident, it is alleged that the man spat at the window of a police vehicle. He was subsequently further arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and remains in police custody. 

“Officers will support the victim as our investigation continues.”
