A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs after an item was dropped from a moving car during a police chase.

Officers spotted a vehicle with no insurance on Old Milton Road, New Milton, on Friday, August 23 while on patrol.

While pursuing the vehicle, the driver dropped an item before coming to a stop on Gore Road, which was later believed to be class A drugs.

The driver of the car, a 35-year-old man from New Milton, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

He was also arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance.

Officers searched an address linked to the man, in New Milton, and found class A and B drugs as well as drug paraphernalia.

While at the address an officer was assaulted by a second man, in is 50s and from New Milton.

He was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and was released under investigation.

The 35-year-old man was released on conditional police bail while investigations take place.
