A MAN has been charged after a driver was allegedly found unresponsive behind the wheel.

Police were called to Seaview Road in Poole shortly before 10pm on Friday, August 30, after concerns for the welfare of a man in a stationary vehicle.

Officers said the man appeared to be “unresponsive and intoxicated”.

He was checked over by the ambulance service and no medical concerns were raised.

Ian Matthews, aged 60 and of Poole, was arrested and charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis and being in charge of a motor vehicle when above the legal alcohol limit.

He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates Court on Monday, November 18.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 9.50pm on Friday 30 August 2024 raising concern for the welfare of the occupant of a stationary vehicle in Seaview Road in Poole, who appeared to be unresponsive and intoxicated.

“Officers attended with the ambulance service.

“The man was checked over by the ambulance service and no medical concerns were raised.

“The 60-year-old from Poole was arrested and subsequently charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis and being in charge of a motor vehicle when above the legal alcohol limit. He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday 18 November 2024.”
