A WOMAN is receiving appropriate care following a concern for welfare incident on the A338, police have said.   

Dorset Police received a report at 8.34am on Sunday, September 1, raising concern for the welfare of a woman on a bridge on the A338 Wessex Way in Bournemouth.

Officers attended and the road was closed near the Cooper Dean roundabout to Blackwater Junction while efforts are made to engage with the woman.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area while the road closures were in place.

All road closures were lifted at around 11.20am.

Giving an update on Monday morning, a Dorset Police spokesperson said: “The woman was brought to a place of safety at around 10.45am and taken to receive appropriate care.”

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended to support police.
