A BOURNEMOUTH Air Festival favourite was seen (and heard) soaring the skies of Bournemouth this morning.

A loud roar gave out as the Eurofighter Typhoon flew from Bournemouth Airport across the town at around 10.30am.

The reason behind the flight is unknown but the jet was also seen going round in circles near the Isle of Wight.

The RAF jet is capable of reaching speeds of up to Mach 2 (or 1,500mph in groundspeed) and can climb as high as 55,000 ft.

It also featured at Bournemouth Air Festival which took place from August 29 – 31 along Bournemouth Beach.

The historic typhoon jet can also carry up to six missiles and six bombs and has been used by the British in the Falklands, Libya and more.

A second Eurofighter Typhoon jet was also spotted leaving an area of Christchurch at around 11.30am.

A spokesperson for MoD said: "The two RAF Typhoons had been participating in the Bournemouth Airshow and were transiting back to their home unit, RAF Coningsby.

"On the route they linked up with a Cessna 208 aircraft which took images of the Typhoons in the area."
