A YELLOW rain warning has been issued for Dorset by the Met Office.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain across southern England later in the week.
Weather experts have warned of large waves along the coastline, and the possibility of homes and businesses flooding.
The alert runs from 9pm on September 4 until 9am on September 5.
Heavy showers, perhaps thundery, are possible in places on Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
This weather may also cause disruption to travel.
There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
