A WETHERSPOON pub is to celebrate its 30th birthday with some drinks costing less than £2.
The Moon in the Square pub in Exeter Road, Bournemouth town centre opened in 1994 and will be marking the milestone this weekend.
To mark the occasion, the pub will be serving all real ales at £1.99 on Saturday and Sunday (September 7 and 8).
The pub’s manager Quique Medina Saura said: “We are delighted that The Moon in the Square has reached this milestone.
“The pub has played an important part in the town’s social scene for the past 30 years.
“We look forward to celebrating with our customers over the weekend.”
The building began its life as a Victoria villa and the adjacent Victoria Library. The villa was home to TJ Hankinson in 1865, and the library was his business premises.
He was a stationer and bookseller originally but later became an estate agent until in 1893, he became Bournemouth’s first mayor.
In 1938, the building was occupied by Forte’s Ice Cream Parlour.
