A POOLE man has appeared in court after ‘threatening to kill his girlfriend’.

Daniel Ryan, 39, made the threats after the relationship with his partner ended, records show.

The defendant admitted a charge of stalking involving serious alarm/distress, covering a period of time between March 1, 2023, and January 14, in the Canford Bottom area.

He appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 4, to be sentenced.

Court records show that in April 2023 and ‘following the conclusion of the relationship’, Ryan called the victim and told her he knew where she was, before turning up uninvited at her home, grabbing her arm and telling her he would kill her.

They also report that between January 8 and January 13, he called and messaged the victim on a number of occasions ‘which caused her to fear violence would be used’.

Ryan, of Fortescue Road in Poole, was handed a 20 week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.

He was also ordered to pay £300 compensation, a victim surcharge of £154 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

A restraining order was made for the victim lasting until September 3, 2026.
