FILM fans can enjoy three days of classic cinema in Christchurch.

Grindfest 24 film festival presented by Dirt in the Gate comes to the Regent between September 13 and 15.

A spokesperson said: “We’ve searched archives and collections the world over to present to you rare film prints, some of which you just won’t see anywhere else projected on these shores from the beloved 35mm format.

“This really is the U.K.'s dedicated genre film on film event to see.”

Following last year’s 35mm screening of Friday 13th, attendees will be treated to another 1980s classic, Treasure of the Four Crowns.

The film is rarely ever screened in the UK due to its original over/under 3D process.

Organisers say it promises to be a cinema adventure that won’t be forgotten.

It will be shown at 10.45am on the Sunday.

Other highlights include 1986 sci-fi feature Critters on Friday at 6pm.

Then on the Saturday, 1986 horror The Fly starring Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis will be screened at 7pm.

Other films due to feature over the three days include Society, The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue, The Last Starfighter, Turkish Star Wash, Nightmare Beach, The Keep, Heavy Metal, Dark Angel and Escape from New York.

Plus, a ‘mystery movie’ will roll at 9.15pm on Saturday.

An international short film showcase will be held at 3pm on the Saturday.
