A MINI caught fire and was left completely destroyed overnight.
The Mini Cooper was driving on the A35 between Bere Regis and the Shell garage on Sunday evening, September 8 at around 9pm.
Police officers had to close the road while firefighters tackled the vehicle fire between Poole Hill Roundabout and Townsend Roundabout.
Recovery for the Mini was arranged and it was towed away later that evening.
Meanwhile the driver, a woman from Cornwall, 29, was dropped off to the McDonald’s in Dorchester where she was picked up and taken home.
Dorset Traffic Cops added: “The driver, a 29-year-old lady from Cornwall was able to get out of the vehicle as the flames became visible from the engine area. She is uninjured.”
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "One crew from Bere Regis attended and two breathing apparatus wearers used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. Our stop was at 9.57pm."
Dorset Police's spokesman said: "We received a report at 8.14pm on Sunday 8 September 2024 of a vehicle fire on the A35 at Bere Regis. Officers attended to assist with traffic management.
"The vehicle was recovered and police left the scene at around 11.40pm."
