SERIOUS assaults, drunk and disorderly behaviour and drugs – this was just one Saturday night in Bournemouth town centre.

Officers were out patrolling the streets on September 7 and responded to “various emergency calls” over the night.

Three stop and searches were carried out under the Misuse of Drugs Act, “multiple” section 35 dispersal orders were issued because of people being anti-social and a community resolution was issued after somebody was caught with class B drugs.

In addition, a man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods while attempting to sell bottles of spirits.

Bournemouth police’s spokesman said: “The rain hasn’t stopped our dedicated officers from C Squad, now proudly formed into Yellow Squad as part of Project Evolve, which aims to enhance the service we provide to the communities of Dorset.

“[On Saturday], Yellow Squad officers were out in full force across Bournemouth town centre as part of Op Nightjar, ensuring the safety of the town's night-time economy and addressing anti-social behaviour hot spots in line with Op Relentless.

“Officers responded to various emergency calls throughout Saturday night, dealing with incidents ranging from low-level assaults, drunk and disorderly behaviour, assault on emergency workers, and serious assaults.”
