"TEMPUS fugit" time flies, soon it will be Christmas & then the new year. It will be 25 years since the millennium started.
I remember how the churches decided to do something special for the occasion, the beginning of a new era. It came in the form of "the flame". It worked with gas & eventually was replaced by a multicolour electric bulb.
It still stands tall in the centre of town.
It has been a place of public reunion for Christians at Easter time but it has also been a place where grief was expressed by people in our conurbation.
They placed flowers at the bottom of the flame for 9/11 and other tragedies.
How good to have such a place symbolising that light will always suppress darkness.
