FIREFIGHTERS dealt with a blaze at a Bournemouth heathland.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service received a report at 1.28 pm on Saturday, September 21, of a fire spanning a large area of heathland at Turbary Common.
Firefighters from Redhill Park, Poole, Ferndown Wimborne, Hamworthy, Wareham and Christchurch were called to extinguish the flames.
A spokesperson for DWFRS said: "At the height of the incident, we had approximately 25 firefighters.
"They used multiple hose reels and beaters to extinguish the fire which covered approximately half an acre."
The stop message was received at 2.38 pm, and firefighters conducted a reinspection at 5.30 pm to check for any hotspots, but none were found.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We received a report from the fire service at 1:33 pm on Saturday, September 21, advising that it was in attendance at a health fire in the area of Turbary Park Avenue.
"An update was subsequently received that the fire service had extinguished the fire.
"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. We do not have a confirmed cause of the fire at this time."
