Colten Care’s 21 homes are set to take part in the annual Macmillan Coffee Morning fundraiser with residents, relatives, friends and community contacts all invites.
Chefs have been preparing by putting a ‘Willy Wonka-style’ twist on the event by adding a ‘golden cupcake’ to their sweet selections.
The treat will contain a hidden layer of edible gold leaf or cherry, with the lucky person to win a bottle of bubbly as a prize.
Team members at Avon Reach in Mudeford, Dorset, will host Truth Be Told storytelling a pre-school play group.
Denise Marks, companionship team leader at Avon Reach, said: “Residents and team members really enjoy welcoming friends and contacts and of course helping good causes.
“The Macmillan Coffee Morning is a fantastic community initiative that brings people together, raises awareness of Macmillan’s work and generates donations. And our golden cupcakes add a definite talking point.”
Staff at Brook View in West Moors will dress in the Macmillan colours of green and purple for a fun day of games.
Guests at Amberwood House in Ferndown will be invited to guess the ‘number of teacups in the photo’ and ‘how many humbugs are in the jar’.
Other homes taking part include those in Winchester, Lymington, Poole, New Milton, Bournemouth, Brockenhurst, Salisbury, West Dorset, Blandford, Longham and Chichester.
Proceeds from the coffee mornings will give those affected by cancer emotional, financial and clinical support.
This year’s event will be held on September 27 and more information can be found on Macmillan website.
