A COUPLE have launched a new concept studio where ‘creatives can flourish’ in the heart of Southbourne.

SO.BOHO was created by TV personality and former professional footballer, Stuart Douglas, alongside his wife, Lisa Stuart, a professional make-up artist.

Stuart returned to the town around four years ago for his previous role as team physiotherapist at AFC Bournemouth.

“I wanted to jump at the chance of living in Bournemouth again and then a friend of mine recommended Southbourne,” said Douglas.

The concept studio was created after Stuart and Lisa visited Copenhagen and witnesses a range of ‘hybrid shops’ offering multiple professions under one roof.

“We quite liked the idea because I’m a fully qualified physiotherapist and Lisa is a professional make-up artist, we thought it would be good to have a base where we could both practice our trade.”

SO.BOHO features six designer led stylist stations, one make up bar and one treatment room available to rent.

Stuart and Lisa said they “fell in love” with Southbourne and knew that was where they would create their studio.

“We wanted to have a space where creatives can come and flourish and utilize the space,” said Lisa.

The venue offers two-styles of memberships, residents stylists who work full-time in the studio and member stylists who can book per day.

The latter provides a space for professionals with a smaller client base or those looking to create more of a “high street presence.”

“We still want to expand, so we're still looking for other creatives who want a contemporary place to work from.

“Please get in touch because we are actively looking to increase the membership and increase our staff.”

Stuart and Lisa added that they are looking to “champion local businesses” from tradesmen, plant houses and laundrette.

Lisa said the Southbourne community has been “so welcoming” and supportive of the new business.
