POLICE have uncovered a stash of stolen bikes in Bournemouth.

Officers from the Bournemouth Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) made the discovery while on patrol in the town on Friday, September 27.

They have shared photographs of the stolen bikes over social media as they attempt to locate their owners.

A spokesperson for Bournemouth Police said: “PC Jamie, PC Tom, and PC Natalia from Bournemouth NPT were on patrol today, checking in on some vulnerable folks in the community and reacting to community concerns about anti social behaviour at an address.

"Little did they know, they would be pedalling right into a stash of stolen bikes."

Bournemouth Police also issued some important reminders for cyclists, adding: “We often find that bikes are not tagged with any unique markings, which makes it difficult to locate owners and return their property to them.

"Manufacturers will add a serial number underneath the frame. Don’t forget to write this down somewhere.

“Please remember to take a photo of your bike and consider getting it tagged at one of our bike tagging events.

“Use a really good lock when leaving your bike anywhere.”

Anyone with information about the thefts or owners should contact 101, or by using the Dorset Police website, quoting reference 55240148980.
