THE finale for this weekend's Arts by the Sea festival has been moved forward by a day after bad weather has been predicted on Sunday.
Festival organisers have confirmed that the bonfire and fireworks event that was meant to mark the end of the 2024 festival on September 29 in East Cliff Zig Zag will now occur on the evening of September 28.
This has been blamed on the predicted bad weather for Sunday with the Met Office suggesting it will start raining from 3pm and won't stop until September 30.
On Facebook, the festival organisers said: "Get ready for a jam-packed Saturday, Bournemouth.
"Due to inclement weather on Sunday, our festival pinnacle will now take place tomorrow evening as we mark the change in seasons and celebrate our community.
"Pyrite Creative’s The Honey Pot structure on East Cliff Zig Zag will be set alight on Saturday evening in a mesmerising spectacle, all set to a backdrop of dazzling firework."
The honeypot is a honeycomb-shaped structure created by Pyrite Creative for the Shambala Festival and Arts by the Sea.
Leading up to the finale, a torchlight trail will guide festival-goers along the Bournemouth Promenade to the bottom of East Cliff Zig Zag before the fireworks display takes place.
