ANOTHER vehicle was on fire in a residential street.

The fire brigade was called to Princess Road, Branksome, in the early hours of Sunday, September 29 to a van fire.

Although the van has since been moved, the smell of smoke was still present in the air on Monday morning, September 30.

The road where the van was parked was left blackened and charred.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, however the police were not called to investigate.

Glen, out walking his dog on Monday morning, said vehicles fires are happening “all too often” in the area.

More recently, a car was also on fire in Princess Road during the early hours of September 10, with police believing it was started deliberately.

Glen said: “Sadly this is happening all too often these days, people have lost all respect. The other day a bunch of kids ran out of the arcade [in Westbourne] looking like they were up to no good.

“There have been a few vehicle fires here lately. I don’t know if they are all linked, but what I’m saying is it’s not a coincidence.”

Resident Gracz Misiek added: “I heard loud banging from the street. I went outside and a van was on fire.

“After extinguishing the flames the firefighters cut their way into it, and one told me that there were tools still burning inside.”

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service’s spokeswoman said: “We were called at 4:32am on Sunday 29 September with reports of a commercial vehicle fire on Princess Road, Poole

“One fire engine from Westbourne was mobilised and on arrival found a van well alight which had also spread to some bushes.

“Two firefighters in breathing apparatus use two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and hydraulic cutting tools were used to gain access to the vehicle.

“A second small vehicle was also damage by the fire. The stop was in at 6.10am.”
