A TEENAGE provisional driver who was “showing off” in his car has now had his pride and joy taken away.
The man, 19, was caught speeding in Holdenhurst Road, Lansdowne, at one point forcing a pedestrian crossing the road to jump back on the pavement.
Dorset’s traffic officers were in the area and caught the man in the act and pulled him over.
The officers found he didn’t have a driver’s licence and was allegedly smoking cannabis.
Meanwhile, his Seat Ibiza was taken away on the back of a recovery truck.
Dorset Traffic Cops said: “If you’re going to show off, driving at inappropriate speeds in the centre of Bournemouth by the Old Fire Station causing a pedestrian crossing the road to run back towards the pavement, you will be stopped.
“The 19-year-old driver that did this was in his shiny new Seat Ibiza. Turns out we could show off the shiny new recovery truck that came to collect it.
“He was a provisional driving licence holder, so we seized the car.
“It also turns out the driver likes to smoke cannabis too, so is now off to custody for evidential samples to be obtained.
“Drink and drug driving impairs your ability to drive and wrecks lives. Don’t do it.”
