The pub is a Great British institution and it's a place many people head to in the autumn/winter season to enjoy a pint in cosy surroundings.

Whilst not every pub fits this description there are plenty that offer that right sort of atmosphere in the BCP area, but which ones are considered to be the best?

Therefore, we thought it might be best to ask Daily Echo readers for their recommendations.

We put out a Facebook post asking the question and here are the responses we received.

"It has retained its comfy lived-in feel & has not been modernised. A small place with seating for about 30 but with a bar you can sit up to as well. At lunch time they only serve a variety of ploughman’s including a sharing board ( we had this) £25 and exceptional value! We couldn’t finish it all!!

"If you love cosy bar, friendly owners & staff & the best ploughman’s ever then this is the place for you."

Alongside that, another Longham establishment received a few mentions in The Angel Inn.
