AN INVESTIGATION has opened following a report of a sexual offence in Bournemouth.
Officers were alerted to a report of a sexual offence that took place on Charminster Road early this morning (October 6).
An alleyway was cordoned off by Dorset Police this morning as a result of the incident.
The cordon has now been lifted from the area.
Officers have also warned residents that there will be an increased police presence as a result of the incident.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a call at 3.20am on October 6 from a member of the public to say a woman was reporting a sexual offence in Charminster Road in Bournemouth by a man she had met earlier in the evening.
“A full investigation is underway, led by detectives from Bournemouth CID, and a cordon was put in place to allow for an examination of the area to be carried out.
“This has since been stood down.
“Enquiries are ongoing, including getting a full account from the victim. No arrests have been made.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area and local officers can be approached by anyone in the community with any concerns.”
