A 97-year-old care home resident has been helped to relive a moment from her past.

Beryl, a resident at Parley Place, had always wanted to get back on a motorbike – so the home made her dream a reality.

Staff created an event with cars, bikes and scooters, with riders from the Top Hat Riders and Grumpy Grandads in attendance.

Beryl, who has been at the West Parley home for more than a year, went straight over to the bikers and said, “Can I have a go then?”.

To her surprise, she was told, “Yes, here’s your helmet.”

Beryl said: “I’m 97 years old, I didn’t think I could go on a bike again, it was such an amazing feeling to know that such a loving group of people care so much about me that they helped me to live out a dream – and I didn’t even ask.”

Gina, general manager at Parley Place, said: “We believe that every moment is worth cherishing.

"We want everyone we care for to know how important they are to us here at Parley Place, It is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team here in making our residents’ dreams come true.

"It was wonderful to see how happy Beryl was – and the staff loved being a part of this as well.”
