TEMPORARY traffic lights are to bring severe disruption around Royal Bournemouth Hospital for the next few weeks.

The lights were installed in Deansleigh Road on Monday morning, October 7, while workmen install electric vehicle chargers at the Village Hotel.

Royal Bournemouth Hospital has warned traffic will be heavy during the peak hours of 7am to 9am and 3.30am and 6pm.

A spokesman said: “We expect around 1,500 staff to be arriving and leaving during these times, so we advise allowing extra travel time.

“If possible, staff are encouraged to reduce car journeys or seek alternative modes of travel to the Royal Bournemouth site during this period.”

The lights are expected to be in place for around two or three weeks and will be managed by the contractors.

Some residents have told the Echo of missed appointments and 45-minute waits to leave the hospital’s car park.

The temporary traffic lights are not to do with the work going on at the hospital. A&E will remain open for ambulances.
