PASSENGERS flying from Bournemouth Airport have been told to be aware of new changes to hand luggage rules.
Effective from now, passengers can keep large electrical items such as laptops and liquids up to 100ml in their hand luggage when going through security.
The Hurn-based airport has completed the process of installing and testing new security screening equipment.
Bosses say this will now improve passenger security.
It also means that liquids up to 100ml will no longer need to be presented in a clear plastic bag when going through security.
Bournemouth Airport’s spokesman said: “As many airports have not yet introduced this new technology, passengers should check restrictions prior to travel as, they may still be required to carry liquids within a clear plastic bag for the return journey back to Bournemouth Airport.”
Passenger numbers at Bournemouth Airport are expected to 1.1m this year, 1.5m next year and 1.75m for 2026/27.
Jet2, which announced Hurn would be used as its 12th UK base earlier this year, will have three planes flying to 21 destinations for summer 2026.
