A FLOOD warning is in force for an area of Dorset following heavy rainfall.
High river levels are expected to cause flooding on the Middle Stour for most of today, Wednesday, October 9.
The Environment Agency has issued a warning for the stretch of river from Hammon to Sturminster Marshall.
The agency said: “Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Middle Dorset Stour, Lower Dorset Stour, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around Hammoon, Bere Marsh, Stourpaine, Durweston and Lower Blandford St Mary.
“Further flooding is expected throughout the morning as river levels are remaining high due to rainfall.”
The agency said it is monitoring rainfall and river levels.
People have been urged to avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.
The warning comes after heavy rain fell across Dorset on Tuesday, October 8.
It is in place until 5pm today, October 9.
