AN AREA has been cordoned off following a landslide in Bournemouth.
Two beach huts have been damaged following a cliff slip at Durley Chine.
BCP Council has been informed of the incident, and the area has been cordoned off while the damage is assessed.
Following severe weather conditions, the area was exposed to heavy rainfall, which is believed to have caused the slip.
Cllr Richard Herrett, portfolio holder for destination, leisure and commercial operations at BCP Council, said: “Following recent heavy rainfall, we can confirm that on Wednesday 9 October there was a small cliff slip near Durley Chine that damaged a small number of beach huts.
“The area has been cordoned off in the interest of public safety while the site is inspected by the council’s Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) team.
“We have informed the licensees of the beach huts and will be staying in touch with them once further assessment has been carried out and the site is deemed secure.”
