LAST night, Poole Pirates sensationally overturned a 12-point first leg deficit to beat Oxford Cheetahs to the Cab Direct Championship title.
Tensions were high throughout the night as the hosts narrowed the gap to their visitors in a dramatic meeting.
Pirates levelled the aggregate scores after nine heats and rode to an unassailable lead after 14, thanks to fantastic performances from Tobias Thomsen and Tom Brennan.
But each of the Poole seven contributed to an historic night as they secured their 11th league title in the 21st century, in 21 seasons raced.
In the end, Pirates rode to a 56-34 win on the night and a 10-point aggregate victory, 95-85 after the two legs.
Photographer Richard Crease was at Wimborne Road to capture the action and the resulting celebrations. See a gallery of his pictures above.
