BOURNEMOUTH’S popular annual races along the seafront have returned for 2024 with speedy junior runners.
Run Bournemouth kickstarted the events on Saturday, October 12, with the junior 2km, 1.5km and 1km.
First up was the junior 2km, with participants aged from nine to 12 years old.
Caidee, 12, Blossom, nine, and Nyah, 10, said they really enjoyed the race, with Blossom adding that cold breeze helped.
Walter, 12, breezed through the 2km having taken part each year since he was four years old.
Cheerleaders, Libby, Jessica, Maddie, Betsy and Sophia all took part in the race to fundraise for their cheer competition in America.
The girls are part of the Icicles team at Bournemouth Elite Cheer and showcased a stunt after their run.
The next race was children aged from six years old to eight, for the 1.5km distance.
Six-year-old Isla smashed her first Run Bournemouth race, having only completed park runs previously.
Brothers Joshua, aged nine, and Noah, aged seven, proudly showed off their medals having completed the 2km and 1.5km races.
Finally, for the junior races, was the kids kilometre for children aged between three and six.
Sophia, aged six, took part in the race with her mum, Gemma, who said she did amazing and that she struggled to keep up with her daughter.
Matteo, aged four, completed the kids kilometre while his sister, Diellza aged seven, upped the pace this year and took part in the 1.5km.
The event continues with the supernova 5k race this evening at 7pm.
Tomorrow, runners will tackle the supersonic 10k and the half marathon, beginning at Hengistbury Head and finishing in Bournemouth Gardens.
