BOURNEMOUTH police officers seized a number of e-scooters that they say were being operated illegally in the town.

Dorset Police says the vehicles "pose significant dangers, not just to their drivers but to everyone around them".

A Dorset Police statement says: "The community has raised the issue of e scooters racing up and down the pedestrian areas, and we acted accordingly.

"Driving uninsured vehicles can lead to serious consequences, including accidents that could result in injuries or property damage. Without insurance, riders risk hefty fines and can find themselves financially responsible for any harm caused.

"Our priority is the safety and well-being of our community. By enforcing these regulations, we aim to prevent accidents and ensure that everyone can enjoy our streets safely.

"This will be the first of many targeted operations of this kind. If you are thinking of driving an e scooter illegally on the streets of our town, think again.

"Let’s work together to keep our community safe."
