AN 18-mile diversion route will be put up when a 500-metre stretch of road is resurfaced.
St Margarets Hill in Pamphill, Wimborne will be closed to motor vehicles from 9am on Monday, October 28.
Workmen will be carrying out resurfacing work along the stretch of road from Victoria Hospital to Stone Lane daily 9am to 4pm.
Dorset Council said the work is expected to be finished by Friday, November 1.
The local authority said: “A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed section.”
The 18-mile diversion route takes drivers up to Blandford Forum, Blandford St Mary, Spetisbury, Sturminster Marshall and onto the A31 before arriving back in Wimborne at Lake Gates Roundabout.
