OFFICERS are investigating after more than 20 number plates were stolen from an area of Dorset.

The Purbeck Police Neighbourhood Police Team were responding to reports of theft in the Wareham area on October 15.

It is now reported that around 25 number plates were stolen or damaged from vehicles in the Northport Drive area.

Two men were seen in the area at the time of the incident, sparking an appeal from officers.

Police Constable Kayleigh Barguss, of Dorset Police, said: “We attended and carried out searches of the area, but unfortunately the suspects were not located.

“I am appealing to anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity in the area during the relevant time period to please come forward.

“Also, if you own a ring doorbell or CCTV camera and live in the vicinity, please can you check your footage for anything that may assist my enquiries.

“I am keen to speak with anyone who had their vehicle damaged and has not already spoken to officers.

“We know the significant impact vehicle crime has on victims and local officers can be approached while on patrol with any information or concerns.”
