MORE than £400,000 worth of motorbikes were sold at a Dorset auction earlier this month.
The Charterhouse auction of classic and vintage motorcycles was held on October 3 and has been hailed as “another great success”.
Top lot of the day was a 1968/2023 Vincent Egli 1200cc bike which sold for £39,100 to a UK-based collector.
Next up was the 1925 Sunbeam Model 11 Works Sprint machine. Coming to Charterhouse with a great history it sold for £32,200 to a buyer in Hungary.
And a 1948 Indian Chief sold for £21,850 to a west country collector, a 1921 Excelsior Big Twin was sold to a Hungarian at £19,550 and a 1971 Yamaha FS1E project from a deceased estate in Plymouth, which had been in storage for many years, selling for £5,520 to a buyer in Plymouth.
Auctioneer George Beale said: “We had a really interesting selection of motorcycles dating from 1912 to 2023.
“There were plenty of projects ready for winter through to daily riders and show machines.”
Charterhouse is now accepting further entries for its spring classic and motorcycle auction, back at the Haynes Motor Museum, on Thursday, March 13.
