THREE cars were caught speeding more than 11mph over the speed limit.

Road conditions were foggy in the New Forest on the morning of Friday, October 18 when police officers were out.

According to the officers on duty along with the New Forest Awareness Team, most cars passing on the morning commute stuck to the 40mph speed limit in Hatchet Lane, near Beaulieu.

But three cars were caught speeding.

The New Forest’s police said: “We are delighted to say that the vast majority of the drivers that went passed us at Yew Tree Heath and Pig Bush car parks were staying well below the 40mph speed limit because of the poor visibility but we did stop three vehicles that were going well over the limit.

“One driver was spoken to by our partners Forestry England, New Forest National Park and the New Forest Roads Awareness Team but two were issued with tickets for recording speeds of 51 and 52 mph in a 40 mph zone.

“Please, please, please stick to the speed limit across the forest especially when visibility is so bad – this morning it was down to approximately 100 metres in places.”
