LONG-awaited roadworks to install a new drainage system in a frequently flooded area are set to begin at the end of the month.
The works on Stapehill Road and Hampreston crossroads will take place during the half-term holiday, starting on October 28.
The project includes the installation of new drainage and the enlargement of existing drainage, spanning from the north to the south side of the crossroads.
Dorset Council has warned that delays are likely, as temporary traffic lights will be in place during the works.
While permission has been granted for the works to run from October 28 to January 11, they are expected to be completed sooner.
Councillor Carol Gardiner stated that efforts will be made to minimise disruption to schools, with the Christmas holidays providing a contingency in case of any delays.
