THE charred remains of a caravan fire that happened at the beginning of October remain in a layby three weeks on.

Firefighters were called to Ulwell Road in Swanage at 2am on October 3 to tackle the allegedly “deliberate” blaze in a layby.

The structure of the caravan, believed to be the home of a man, has been removed but much of the debris remains.

The day after the fire, Jane Amanda Keith, of Steer Road, Swanage, was charged and placed in custody following an appearance at Poole Magistrates’ Court

The 55-year-old appeared before magistrates on Friday, October 4, charged with arson, assault by beating, assault by beating of an emergency worker and making threats to damage or destroy property.

Swanage resident Keith indicated a guilty plea to arson and two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker at her first court appearance.

She pleaded not guilty to assault by beating and it’s unknown what her plea is for the charge of making threats to damage or destroy property.

Keith is due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday, November 11.
