A DONKEY had a lucky escape when it was rescued by firefighters after getting into difficulty.
Marty the donkey was left stranded after a culvert opened in his paddock, causing him to fall into a hole that left him up to his neck in water on October 26.
Firefighters from Poole, Sherborne and Yeovil attended the incident and winched the donkey out of the culvert.
A spokesperson for DWFRS said: “We were called to Brook Street, Milborne Port at 5.01pm on Saturday (26 October) to rescue a donkey which had fallen into a collapsed culvert and was up to his neck in water.
“Crews attended from Yeovil and Sherborne, together with a technical rescue team from Poole, and were able to dig out the mud around Marty, enabling him to be harnessed and lifted using a farmer's telehandler.
“The stop was at 7.34pm.”
