FIREFIGHTERS rushed to extinguish a blaze involving a van on a busy Bournemouth roundabout.

Redhill Avenue was closed both ways to road users to allow the emergency services to tackle a fire at the Rehill roundabout near Winton.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called at 2.35pm on Monday, October 28, to reports of a vehicle fire.

Two crews, one from Redhill Park and one from Springbourne attended, and two breathing apparatus were used, alongside one hose reel jet, to extinguish the fire.

Dorset Police were called to assist the fire service with road closures.

Morebus was unable to serve at Moordown or Wimborne Road while the fire service was at the scene.

Buses diverted via East Howe; however, they have since resumed.

DWFRS received its stop at 3.07pm but remained at the scene, dampening down to ensure that the fire did not relight.

There were no reports of injuries, and the road reopened at around 4pm.
