A CAR didn’t stop in time before crashing into a river.
The Coastguard was called to help rescue people who were inside a blue Volkswagen Golf that crashed beyond the safety barrier at Rockley Point car park, Poole.
The front of the vehicle ended up in Rock Lea River, which leads to Poole Harbour, while the rear of the car was airbourne.
HM Coastguard from Poole and paramedics arrived in an ambulance to check on the driver and passengers, all of whom were fine.
Poole’s Coastguard said: “Once on scene the occupants had managed to self rescue themselves, we carried out a welfare check and a pollution assessment on the vicinity of the incident scene.
“With the vehicle perched on barriers, the owner contacted the appropriate recovery service. The casualties was checked over by South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust paramedics and with the joint rescue coordination centre content on our actions.
“We stood down and returned to our station.”
The incident happened on October 16 at about 8.30pm.
