PANTO stars are set to dazzle at a Christmas lights switch on event in Christchurch.
Stars from this season’s Bournemouth Pavilion pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, will help light up Christchurch at the 2024 'Christmas Lights Switch On' event.
In collaboration with BH Live, which manages Bournemouth Pavilion in partnership with BCP Council, Christchurch Town Council will welcome some theatrical sparkle to its festive celebrations on Saturday, November 23.
The special guests - David Ribi (Channel 5’s Milkshake! presenter) as Jack, Rachel Grundy (West End star) as Princess Jill, and Calum Lill (from Coronation Street) as Fleshcreep - will join the Mayor at 5pm for the official countdown and lights switch-on.
Steve Turner, director of venues at BH Live, said: “We are delighted to have cast members forom this year’s panto at Bournemouth Pavilion, Jack and the Beanstalk, invited to kick off the festivities in Christchurch. It is literally fee-fi-fabulous.
“Jack, Princess Jill, and the villainous Fleshcreep will be joining the mayor to spread some magical cheer and switch on the festive lights. We can’t wait."
The event is expected to draw visitors from across Christchurch and beyond, with festivities running from 11am to 7pm.
A day filled with music, performances, holiday shopping, and family-friendly activities awaits attendees.
The entertainment line-up features local talent, including school choirs, community bands, and the lively Acoustix band, setting the perfect holiday atmosphere.
After the switch-on, the popular band We Are Robot will keep the energy high with a festive set to close out the event.
Children will have the chance to meet Father Christmas, as well as beloved holiday characters like Olaf from Frozen.
Meanwhile, families can explore a bustling holiday market at the Priory and Druitt Hall with stalls offering crafts, and gifts, along with festive food and classic fairground rides by William Cole Funfair to add to the excitement on the high street.
Jack and the Beanstalk, a UK Productions Ltd production, will run at Bournemouth Pavilion from December 7 to January 5, 2025.
Tickets are available on Bournemouth Pavilion's website.
