CHRISTCHURCH Rotary Club has announced its date for the highly-anticipated bonfire night.

The 2024 bonfire and fireworks spectacular is due to take place on November 2 at a brand new location.

Previous firework events have been held at Stanpit Recreation Ground for the last 40 years.

Now, due to a presence of methane gas in the ground, the event has been moved to The Grange School in Somerford.

A spokesperson for Christchurch Rotary said: “In these past months, Christchurch Rotary has put countless hours into planning and preparation to ensure the event will run smoothly and be safe, fun, and welcoming for everyone.

“We’re working closely with local authorities, community groups, and charities to put together an event that truly reflects the spirit of Christchurch.

“On the night, attendees can enjoy a great line-up of food stalls, family-friendly funfair rides, live entertainment, and, of course, the bonfire and grand fireworks finale.

“The return of this event means more to us than words can say. We look forward to a wonderful evening and the opportunity to reconnect with the Christchurch community.

“We invite everyone to join us in reigniting the Bonfire & Fireworks Spectacular for an evening of excitement, tradition, and community spirit.”

Gates open at 5pm with a bonfire lighting at 6.30pm and the Fireworks at 7.45pm.

Tickets can be purchased via the Christchurch Rotary website.
